The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding, becoming the first formal partnership between a national trade body and a sports federation in Bangladesh.
The agreement was signed on 30th November 2025 at the Nurul Quader Auditorium of the BGMEA Complex in Uttara by BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and BFF President Tabith Awal, signalling a new phase of cooperation aimed at strengthening worker welfare, expanding football activities nationwide and leveraging sports diplomacy to bolster the “Made in Bangladesh” brand on the global stage.
According to BGMEA, the partnership will integrate structured sports programmes, talent development pathways and grassroots football outreach with worker welfare initiatives. Joint activities will include training sessions, worker-centric sports events, community engagement efforts and collaborative branding campaigns highlighting both Bangladesh’s manufacturing strength and its growing sporting ambitions.
In his welcome remarks, BGMEA Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury noted that the MoU resulted from sustained efforts under his leadership, reflecting the association’s deepening focus on worker well-being and youth development.
Industry observers say the partnership could pave the way for innovative community initiatives, stronger employee engagement through sports and new avenues for global branding anchored in Bangladesh’s largest export-earning sector.
Senior leaders from both organisations attended the ceremony, including BGMEA’s Senior Vice-President Inamul Haque Khan (Babul); Vice-Presidents Md Rezowan Selim, Mizanur Rahman (Finance), and Md Shihab Uddowza Chowdhury; as well as Directors Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Nafis-ud-Dowla Chowdhury, Sheikh Hossain Mohammad Mostafiz, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Asef Kamal Pasha, Mohammad Sohel; and committee chairs Md Sajjad Ali Khan, Mohammad Masud Kabir and Khan Monirul Alam (Shuvo).
