
Underlining that sustainability is one of the core focus areas for Bangladesh’s apparel industry, President of the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh maintained that the industry was making all-out efforts towards achieving environment-friendly growth.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, reportedly, maintained this while addressing a recent webinar titled, ‘Lean into the Future of Green Transition – Greentech for Industrial Processes & Sustainable Buildings’, organised jointly by BGMEA and the Trade Council of Denmark – Bangladesh even as he added that Bangladesh has 148 LEED Green factories certified by the USGBC (US Green Building Council), of which 44 are Platinum rated and 91 are Gold rated and went on to further underline that 40 out of top 100 green factories of the world belong to Bangladesh even if 500 more are in the process of getting certification.
… it proves the focus drive of the industry in the area of environmental sustainability, stated the BGMEA President while, reportedly, adding that in order to keep the industry competitive in the global market, there is no alternative to advanced sustainable technologies and initiatives.
