
Readymade garments factory Amanat Shah Fabrics Limited (ASFL), has become the first from Bangladesh to receive LEED certification in 2023.
As per reports, ASFL, which is located at Vatpara, Panchdona in Narsingdi has been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification (with 68 out of 100 score) by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
As per data from the USGBC, with this, Bangladesh now has 184 LEED-certified readymade garments factories which is a record in the world.
Of the 184 LEED-certified facilities, 60 are platinum categories, 110 gold, 10 silver and four are green-certified readymade garments factories.
For information, Bangladesh’s Vintage Denim Studio was recognised as the first LEED platinum-certified factory in the world in May 2012 even if Bangladesh also boasts of the top seven green factories globally.
