
Beximco, Bangladesh’s largest private sector group which hit the headlines recently after exporting around 6.5 million PPE gowns to the USA thereby making Bangladesh one amongst the elite group of nations with ability to manufacture large-scale world-class PPEs, has made news once again.

This time around it is for Beximco’s new initiative to establish a new mask manufacturing unit in Detroit.
As per media reports, the Bangladesh-based conglomerate is planning to set up the new unit in the Motor City through a joint venture (JV) with a Chicago-based entity.
To start with, Beximco, which plans to invest around US $ 20 million for this new unit, will supply N95 masks in Detroit before expanding its supplier base to other US states.
Speaking to the media, the CEO and Group Director of Beximco Syed Naved Husain maintained that they have been approached by several PPE manufacturers from across the globe and have decided to set up the new unit in Detroit through JV adding that the state of Michigan wants to sponsor and support this project.
We aim to be counted amongst the three best global PPE suppliers in next 3-5 years, claimed the CEO and Group Director of Beximco to a news daily.
It may be mentioned here that Beximco’s first consignment of 6.5 million PPE gowns was sent to USA recently from Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport in the presence of US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, amongst others.
