
Fire broke out at Sinha Group Textile Mill in Narayanganj’s Kachpur area reportedly around 1.15pm on March 25.
According to sources, the fire had started at the mill’s weaving section. Although, there are no immediate reports of causalities, the extent of damage is yet to be ascertained as local reporters are also not allowed to enter the mill.

Sinha Group is one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh, operating in various business segments, equipped with Textile, Ready Made Garments (RMG), Power Generation, Food & Agro, IT & Telecom and Infrastructure.
The Bangladesh textile industry is marked with few such unfortunate incidents. An instance worth mentioning is that of the Rana Plaza or the Savar building collapse that claimed 1,130 lives and injured 2,500 people, saw an eight-story commercial building, named Rana Plaza collapsing on April 24, 2013 in the Savar Upazila of Dhaka.
Bangladeshi Textile Industry has, however, been growing rapidly with the help of innovations on all fronts, be it textile equipment, or business strategies and expansions. It is, in fact, one of the most sought-after destinations for apparel sourcing.
