Among the numerous categories in home textile, bedding has always been an important product for suppliers due to the fact that it is a high-value and volume business. In these hard times, manufacturers in the international market are working on innovations to offer beddings that not only have high design appeal but also have some additional advantages that can help in improving the quality of life.
Design Weave, a China-based company that manufactures luxurious home textile, recently introduced sheets constructed with ‘Outlast Technologies’, a temperature-regulating material which is being used for the first time in sheets. Outlast’s tier-based comfort rating system is based on the amount of heat storage capacity in a product. The technology was originally developed for NASA. In these sheets sets, Patented Outlast Thermocules absorb excess heat when the body becomes too warm, releasing it back when the body comes at a natural temperature. The sheet sets will be available at the Bronze and Silver Outlast comfort levels and the comforters and blankets will be available in Bronze, Silver and Gold. While the Bronze level products would help in providing normal sleepers with a more comfortable sleep, the Silver targets “thermally incompatible” couples. Moreover, the Gold level products are designed for people who experience night sweats such as women associated with menopause.
The product range will include 300 to 400 count sheet sets in satin along with stripes, comforters, alternative comforters and blankets. The line was introduced at New York Home Furnishings Market Week that was held in September.
Another company Restonic, one of the producers of high-end beddings in Las Vegas added a new sleep set to its already existing eco-friendly ‘Blue Bed line’ which was launched early this year. A magnetic collection that uses magnet in the top cushioning layers of bedding to provide therapeutic benefits was also introduced. The new Blue Bed model, which retails for about $ 1,899 in queen size, combines latex foam with the company’s Eco Foam, a polyurethane foam cushioning that substitutes natural plant oils for some of the petroleum-based polyol that is used in the foam’s production. The Magnetic sleep set features a foam-encased pocketed coil innerspring unit, the queen size of which is sold at $ 1,999. The other two models in the Magnetic line, Sleep Odyssey and Sleep Quest are high-density foam mattresses that are retailed for about $ 2,499 in queen. The product line uses organic cotton fibres also.
