JD Sports, having 660 sports fashion stores in the UK and Europe and 184 outdoor shops, has made a strong start in the first five months of the current fiscal year. The company is pleased with growing sales as it comes on the back of a record breaking year for the Group as profits rose to more than £ 100 million on sales of £ 1.5 billion over 12 months-period. Its core, sports fashion stores once again being the top performer. “We are pleased with the growing level of sales in Europe although the weak Euro will impact our margins in our JD stores outside the UK. Whilst we are now trading against challenging comparatives for the remainder of the year, the Board remains confident that current earnings expectations for the Group for the year ended 31 January 2016 should be met,” said Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman of JD Sports Fashion.
