In a move that would pave the way to pay back the controversial e-commerce platform Evaly’s long line of creditors, the High Court recently formed a five-member board to run the e-commerce platform, whose top-rung officials including its directors have been incarcerated.
As per media reports, the High Court bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar while passing the order in this direction recently, reportedly, maintained the five-member committee — retired judge of the Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik would be the Chairman of board and Mahbub Kabir Milon, an Additional Secretary, will be the ex-officio Managing Director even as other members of the board will be Md. Rezaul Ahsan, former local Government Secretary, chartered accountant Fakhruddin Ahmed and lawyer Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz — will try to run Evaly as a viable entity, and if the same is not possible, will take steps to wind up the entity.
It may be mentioned here that Evaly has been mired in various controversies of late.
