Amidst recent reports of alleged malpractices centring a few players in the e-commerce sector in Bangladesh, President Abdul Hamid has stressed on the need and importance of strong monitoring and control to prevent cheating by a handful of people so as to ensure that expansion of the sector is not halted in any way even as he went on to underline that e-commerce is an important sector.
The interest of buyers towards e-commerce is growing day by day, reportedly, stated the President while adding that in order to keep this (buyers’) interest unhurt, buyers need to gain trust and confidence whilst adding that some people are cheating in the name of e-commerce, and are delivering low quality or different products (instead of the ones displayed on the websites).
As per media reports, Abdul Hamid came up with these observation while delivering a speech at the virtual opening ceremony of the Digital Device and Innovation Expo 2021 —the expo is being held for the second time with theme of ‘Make here, Sell everywhere’ at Bangladesh Film Archive Complex — whilst also adding that skilled human resources must be built in addition to the development of advanced technology, so as to control cybercrimes.
