Industrial equipments and machineries worth around US $ 30 billion dollars are now not operationalin some factories of Chittagong. Industry insiders informed that nearly 142 factories equipped with imported machineries still have no gas supply connection, hence the heavy industries couldn’t run in full swing. According to the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the industrial hub of the country got grossly 270 million cubic foot gas five years ago when the national gas production stood at 17,000 million cubic foot. But the amount of the supply has reduced while the national gas production stands at 22,000 million cubic foot.
