The country’s existing tax structure, combined with a heavy dependence on imported fossil fuels, is constraining progress towards a more secure, resilient and environmentally sustainable energy system.

The BGMEA and the BKMEA called for the immediate withdrawal of the duties, describing the decision as unilateral and poorly timed amid a prolonged global slowdown and persistent domestic energy shortages.

Investors will be able to access key services such as opening bank accounts, obtaining trade licences and availing financial and municipal services through a single digital interface in a faster, more transparent and less cumbersome manner.

The growth was driven largely by an 11.60% increase in import volumes, while average unit prices declined by 6.88%, underscoring the continued squeeze on prices across global supply chains.

The integrated system will span approximately 12,000 to 15,000 square feet and will be designed to treat effluent generated across the full production cycle, from wet blue processing to finished leather.

The proposed plant will manufacture polyurethane and polyethylene foam, recycled foam, as well as finished products including mattresses, pillows, comforters and shoe insoles. These products cater to a wide range of industries, such as home textiles, footwear and packaging.
