Karl Mayer, the leading warp knitting machinery manufacturer, has opened its new Development Centre in Fukui, Japan, which focuses on warp-knitted spacer fabrics, a three-dimensional knitted fabric consisting of two separate knitted substrates which have spacer yarns in the middle.
An indispensable feature with technical and semi-technical applications, warp-knitted spacer fabrics provide comfort and padding to car seats and sports shoes, along with making mattress assemblies breathable and comfortable. These functional textiles are produced on double-bar raschel machines and their characteristics can be varied extensively, offering an enormous business potential.
