Inspired from the full blown buttoned down skirts of 1930-40s, resort collections were swamped with shorter versions of the same in new and innovative ways. Adam Lippes cut his skirt in pastel pink suede and included two faux pockets, whereas, Stella McCartney opted for big utilitarian style flap pockets on her magenta skirt. While the former two designers went for casual styles, the latter two went for sleek eveningwear styles – Altuzarra presented a front slit in his white ensemble and Alexander Lewis went for metallic gold. The trend can be experimented with, in terms of length and fabrics, from denim to leather to cotton – the possibilities seem endless.
