Celebrating thirteen years of providing a platform for technology providers to showcase latest developments, GTE’13 is shaping up to fulfil its commitment of ‘Best Today… Still Better Tomorrow’. India’s biggest and most awaited annual meeting place for the garment industry, GTE has seen a transformation from an export-oriented visitation to a garment manufacturer’s haven with garment producers from all corners of the country, whether into exports or domestic arena visiting with equal fervour. Preparations for the event to be held for the first time in March are in full swing and only a handful of stalls are still available for booking. “With the fair happening at a more pleasant time, we are expecting higher visitation from outside the city and even the country, as earlier heavy fogs delayed flights acting as a deterrent for many prospective visitors. We also expect a lot of outstation and overseas visitors as this year our show timing is not clashing with any international event,” says Inderjit S Sahni, Chairman, Garment Technology Expo, the organizer of the fair.
With a track record of happy exhibitors and satisfied visitors, Sahni’s team led by his son Ricky are working relentlessly to ensure that all preparations are as per the high standards set by the previous fairs. One of the biggest advantages of the GTE is the location of the venue in the heart of industrial estate Okhla and its easy accessibility by both road and metro. Very aggressive ad campaigns by mailers, trade magazines, print media, and electronic media and through Title sponsor “Indiamart.com” have been made to alert the industry of the dates. “General feedback is that the international market conditions are improving, considering this upswing, a large number of customers are expected this time,” informs Sahni.
Efforts are also on to ensure that there is a good mix of well-known brands in technology from both the national and international arena. As of now 452 brands have confirmed participation. Spread over 21,300 square metres, the fair will see 44 new brands participating. “The endeavour is to always bring in some new technologies and despite the market slowdown, the interest to display at the fair is very positive,” says Sahni. The B2B platform for new innovations and technology will also host a Denim Zone in association with Fashion Era for total solutions in denim manufacturing.
Confident that the show will not only live up to its reputation as a leading fair for technology, but also surpass past achievements, the organizers are very clear of the agenda. As a very passionate and optimistic Sahni puts it, “Looking forward to a brighter tomorrow can help us get through a gloomy today.”
