Shams Mahmud, managing director of Shasha Denims Limited, has been re-elected president of the Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BTCCI) for a two-year term from 2025 to 2027. The election was held during the organisation’s 19th annual general meeting in Dhaka.
Mahmud is a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s textile and readymade garments (RMG) sector, also serving as the managing director of Shasha Garments and Shasha Textiles. His extensive experience in the industry underscores his leadership role in fostering trade relations between Bangladesh and Thailand.
The BTCCI aims to promote bilateral trade and investment, with a significant focus on the RMG industry, which is a vital sector for Bangladesh’s economy and export earnings. The chamber facilitates business networking, policy advocacy, and trade development between the two nations.
Mahmud’s re-election reflects continued confidence in his leadership to strengthen economic ties and explore new opportunities in the textile and apparel trade sectors between Bangladesh and Thailand.
