According to Philips Gibbs, Group MD for PCI Xylenes and Polyesters, a global consulting firm for polyester and raw material markets, India will see increase in polyester production in the coming 6 years, increasing from over 5 million tonnes to about 10 million tonnes by 2020. He said, “Textile and apparel manufacturers should identify trade opportunities which come their way because China is increasingly concentrating on meeting the domestic demand and in doing so upgrading and adapting its domestic textile systems for local use. India should be able to coordinate its man-made textile sector far better. Its industry should seek guidance from the current strategies of its Asian neighbours like Taiwan, Korea and China.”
