John Herring, the Edinburgh Woollen Mill (EWM) Group Chairman, has, reportedly, informed the suppliers in Bangladesh that EWM Group’s new owners will buy ready to be shipped orders that have been cancelled earlier.
Media reports maintained this while adding that this move by the EWM Group follows close on heels of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), reportedly, writing to the EWM Group Chairman seeking money owed for apparel goods cancelled in March last year.
Meanwhile, replying to the BGMEA letter, John Herring, reportedly, maintained that the new owners are happy to take the stock that sits in Bangladesh factories that is finished and ready to ship even as he, reportedly, added that the EWM Group has no shareholding in the company of the new owners and therefore has no control over its day-to-day operations.
