
The COVID-19 epidemic in Bangladesh seems to be taking a significant toll both in terms of economy and lives lost. And now, even prominent entrepreneurs from the country’s vibrant business community are getting infected with the dreaded disease.
As per media reports, a number of top entrepreneurs in the country including those in the business of readymade garment manufacturing have been infected by coronavirus in the last few days, amongst whom are Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group AK Azad, Founder and Chairman of Envoy Group Kutubuddin Ahmed, Chairman of conglomerate Apex Group Manzur Elahi and his wife Niloufer Manzur and Business giant S Alam Group’s Director Morshedul Alam.
Of them, Morshedul Alam and Niloufer Manzur unfortunately succumbed to the disease, as per reports, while AK Azad has reportedly recovered from the disease and Kutubuddin Ahmed and Manzur Elahi were reportedly undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the overall death toll in Bangladesh has touched 522, 36,751 confirmed cases detected so far and 7,579 people have recovered from it.
