CanCham or the Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangladesh has sought around 100 acres of land at Bangabandhu Special Economic Zone to establish Canadian Industrial Zone even as it called for signing a Free Trade Agreement with Canada so as to ensure duty benefits for the exporters.
According to media reports, CanCham also called upon the Bangladesh Government to sign bilateral deals with Canada to facilitate continuation of duty benefits there for Bangladeshi exporters even as it stressed upon signing the separate agreement to protect foreign direct investment here in Bangladesh.
Masud Rahman, who is the president of the trade body, has reportedly made the demands recently at a programme organised to celebrate 50 years of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Canada.
