The apex Bangladesh garment makers’ body is for minimal increase in commercial gas price even as it maintained they are trying to impress upon the Government that they can increase commercial gas prices but at a lower rate.
This is as per media reports, which maintained the trade body has underlined the previous gas price was set when global gas prices were much higher, even if the price of LNG in the spot market has come down.
The actual price will be lower now than that announced by the Government if all the cost is calculated, reportedly maintained BGMEA President Faruque Hassan while addressing a press meet in Dhaka recently.
The BGMEA chair further reportedly called for lowering the system loss from the gas sector as he felt the burden of the sectoral graft is being eventually transferred to general consumers.
