The largest private sector business conglomerate in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited or BEXIMCO, had recently opened in Savar its US $ 100 million PPE Park where it will produce PPEs (personal protective equipment).
BEXIMCO opened the PPE Park — the 25-acre park is an advanced fully vertical PPE manufacturing facility — on 10 February. The Park has been set up in strategic partnership with Intertek Bangladesh (Intertek Group Plc is a British multinational assurance, inspection, product testing and certification company headquartered in London, England) “As a purpose-led company, Intertek’s mission is to make the world a better and safer place by bringing in quality, safety and sustainability to life. That is why we are extending our partnership with BEXIMCO by establishing a new state-of-the-art center of excellence to ensure its vital PPE products are able to meet the highest risk based quality assurance standards,” maintained the CEO of Intertek André Lacroix, commenting on the agreement.
Speaking at the inauguration of the PPE Park, BEXIMCO CEO, Syed Naved Husain, reportedly, stated that since all the services will be available under one roof encompassing American, European and other global regulatory standards, the new facility (PPE Park) will help the buyers, brands, manufacturers, retailers and the Government with required services since all the services will be available under one roof and went on to add that the park will serve both international and domestic markets and is aimed at increasing the diversity of the supply of PPE, ensuring that it is not totally dependent on any one country.
Underlining that BEXIMCO has steadily contributed to Bangladesh’s spectacular rise as a manufacturing hub in South Asia, Naved, reportedly, said that he was delighted with the new development as it would place the country (Bangladesh) on the world’s PPE manufacturing map.
