
Bangladesh’s GDP growth in the second quarter of the current fiscal year, 2023–24 is estimated to be 3.78 per cent.
This data was released on Monday by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) as the quarterly growth for the second quarter (October–December 2023).
According to BBS, based on currently available data, the GDP estimates for the second quarter of the FY 2023-24 have been assessed. As per the GDP growth rate for the second quarter of FY 2023-24 is 3.78 per cent. In the second quarter of FY 2022-23 the growth was 7.08 per cent and in the second quarter of FY 2021-22 the growth was 9.30 per cent.
The industrial sector grew by 3.24 per cent. This was 10.5 per cent in the FY ’23 second quarter and 14.50 per cent in the FY ’22 second quarter.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) advises the Government and the BBS to carry out quarterly GDP estimates under their decisions. The BBS uses the production method to estimate GDP quarterly, much as other nations do.
Nonetheless, the production and expenditure approach is used to determine the GDP each year.
