Bangladesh has started 2021 on a positive note in its swimwear exports to USA in January ’21, according to OTEXA.
The country clocked US $ 5 million from its swimwear and related products’ shipment to USA during the first month of 2021 as compared to US $ 3.08 million in the same month of 2020 – noting 62.43 per cent yearly increase.
It’s worth mentioning here that swimwear is a growing export category from Bangladesh as it has seen significant increase in export values to the US market in last two years.
Bangladesh clocked US $ 16.59 million from its swimwear exports to USA in 2019, which surged by 65.76 per cent to US $ 27.50 million in 2020, despite pandemic outbreak worldwide.
On the other hand, the total imports of swimwear products by USA declined 26.81 per cent on Y-o-Y basis to US $ 132.59 million in Jan. ’21.
The countries, which remained ahead of Bangladesh in terms of export values of swimwear to the US market, were China (US $ 47.13 million), Vietnam (US $ 39.84 million), Indonesia (US $ 10.52 million), Cambodia (US $ 5.59 million) and Egypt (US $ 5.46 million).
However, all of these countries fell drastically in their respective swimwear exports to USA, except Egypt which noted a growth of 27.73 per cent on Y-o-Y basis in Jan. ’21.
