Experts have highlighted on the need for Bangladesh to negotiate with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) for continuation of the International Support Measures (ISMs) in the days to come, as the country is set to make the much-awaited LDC transition soon.
Taking part in a seminar, experts also emphasised that focus be given on export diversification, internal capacity building, foreign direct investment and skill enhancement as a part of the post-graduation period preparation.
“We still need to actively negotiate at the bilateral and multilateral level to secure the continuation of ISMs beyond graduation,” reportedly, underlined Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh at a seminar titled, ‘WTO MC-12: Implications for Graduating LDCs’, held recently.
