Bangladesh and the Philippines are eyeing potential collaboration in promoting eco-friendly transport and renewable energy solutions. Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh, Nina P. Cainglet, made these remarks at an event held at the World Trade Centre in Chittagong, where she underscored the increasing global demand for sustainable technologies.
Ambassador Cainglet noted that while the two nations maintain a cordial bilateral relationship, their economic ties, particularly in the RMG sector, have yet to reach their full potential. She expressed hope that enhanced trade relations could be established, with the Bangladesh-Philippine Chamber playing a pivotal role in fostering economic cooperation.
The emphasis on eco-friendly transport aligns with the RMG industry’s growing focus on sustainability and reducing carbon footprints. As Bangladesh continues to be a leading player in the global garment market, integrating renewable energy solutions and sustainable transport can enhance its competitive edge.
At the event, Mohammad Anwar Pasha, Administrator of the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), urged Ambassador Cainglet to encourage Filipino investors to explore opportunities within Bangladesh’s special economic zones. He highlighted the potential for joint ventures that could lead to innovative solutions in the RMG sector, aligning with both countries’ goals for sustainable development.
