Having consolidated its position in the global supply chain by remaining open and operating during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bangladesh garment exporters are now confident the industry could soon supply around US $ 8 billion-worth apparel items a month to the global buyers.
…Bangladesh is gradually getting ready to cater garment work orders worth US $ 7 billion to US $ 8 billion every month, reportedly, maintained BGMEA President Faruque Hassan while underlining even if the industry is not capable of supplying products worth US $ 7 billion to US $ 8 billion currently, capacity expansion is already on with target to double the existing level of capacity.
It may be mentioned here that for the first time in the country’s apparel exporting history, Bangladesh’s monthly apparel export crossed the US $ 4 billion mark in December, thanks to the increased demand of apparels following recovery from the severe fallouts of the pandemic globally.
Even though a new variant of the COVID-19 is already spreading globally, Bangladesh garment makers are but not much worried about the same.
“…exporters are not worried as no work order has been cancelled or suspended because of Omicron so far…,” claimed the BGMEA President further adding only a few buyers have demanded deferred shipments for a handful of consignments.
