For several years now, Bangladesh’s RMG sector has been catering to the world’s garment needs, with lakhs of sewing machines stitching clothes 24×7, 365 days a year. But Md Zakaria Bhuiyan, who is the CEO of Zakaria Trade & Fair International and the Chairman of Zakaria Enterprises, still remembers those days when industrial sewing machines were very new in Bangladesh.
Bhuiyan, who was recently honoured with a Life Time Achievement Award in Dhaka, had been associated with the Juki Corporation since 1983, representing the company in Bangladesh. To give a glimpse of his successful journey, all we need to do is look at all those big garment factory owners and apparel machinery distributors who once trained under him. Most of them are now successfully running big garment factories while others are leading distributors of garment machineries in Bangladesh.
The award was presented on behalf of all current and past exhibitors of GARMENTECH Bangladesh for Bhuiyan’s pioneering contribution to the RMG sector through the introduction of industrial sewing machines to the country.
