As per a latest survey a wage gap was found between 51 per cent and 60 per cent for female readymade garments (RMG) workers in Bangladesh even if the same stand at 45 per cent to 54 per cent for their male counterpart.
The survey has reportedly been carried out by the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM), in collaboration with USA-based non-profit organisation, Microfinance Opportunities (MFO).
Both the entities are reportedly conducting research on the quality of the life of garment workers in the country (Bangladesh) even if as part of the research project, the Garment Worker Diaries (GWD) have estimated the ‘living wage’ of the apparel workers of Bangladesh.
