
The apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association or BGMEA, recently showcased the apparel industry’s strides in sustainability in the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
Media reports maintained this adding the BGMEA intends to highlight all the good work and achievements of the readymade garment sector of Bangladesh in terms of sustainability as well as green endeavours.
As per reports, a Bangladesh pavilion was inaugurated at the COP26 — COP26 started in Glasgow, Scotland on 1 October — on 1 November, in which was present State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam.
Meanwhile, the BGMEA has, reportedly, presented its Sustainability Reporting 2020 along with SDG Reporting on 47 member factories while a video presentation on the sustainability endeavours of the apparel industry is also, reportedly, being showcased in the Bangladesh Pavilion.
