Carrington – one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of versatile workwear fabrics – together with Cordura has developed ‘Flametougher 280AS’ performance fabric for stronger, tougher and more hard-wearing flame retardant workwear than the products the company is currently providing.
According to Carrington, this new fabric has a chemical flame retardant finish and is developed utilizing Cordura NYCO fabric technology for long-lasting performance. With its broad range of multifunctional protection, Flametougher 280AS offers durable performance and versatility for garments that can be worn in a wide variety of different environments.

Additionally, certified to relevant flame retardant, antistatic, chemical splash and electric arc requirements, it’s said to be ideal for refineries and other industries that demand multi-norm fabrics with both flame retardant and antistatic properties. Flametougher 280AS incorporates resistance to abrasion of 100,000 rubs minimum (12kPa) and high temperature wash performance that can help extend the lifetime of a garment.
Carrington says, “Demonstrating the technical expertise and market knowledge that drives us in developing the fabrics of the future, we’ll be showcasing this fabric made by our close collaboration with Cordura in upcoming Techtextil trade show in Germany from May 9 to 12 2017.”
