
BP International has recently expanded its garment manufacturing unit in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The company is among the few who are manufacturing garments from the city, which is otherwise known for its textile base. Established in the year 2002 with 150 machines, the company is manufacturing and exporting mainly ladies tops in woven fabric (yarn dyed, solids & prints) in big volumes to the European market, its export turnover for the last financial year was Rs. 20 crore.
Operating earlier under the name of BP Overseas, the company emerged with a new identity in 2011 as BP International and is now working with 300 machines producing high-end women’s wear for the export market in bulk and each order ranges from a quantity of fifty thousand to one lakh pieces. Being amongst the few garment manufacturers in Karur, BP International not only increased their production capacity with a broader machinery base, the company also acquired a SA8000 certificate of compliance. Talking more about their client base, Ashok Jain, Owner, BP International said, “For now, we are only catering to the export base and have no plans to enter the domestic market, but as we believe in customer satisfaction, I’m quite open to the idea and would definitely manufacture products for the domestic market as well if offered an opportunity.”
The company (group of companies) is into textile business since more than 25 years and is integrated from weaving to garmenting. “Also, since Salem is fabric weaving centre for all types of woven fabrics, the company has advantage from its competitors compared to other metro cities in India and also Bangladesh with regards to quality, price and delivery,” concludes Jain.
