
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought support from Italy to develop Bangladesh’s leather industry. She said this on 7 April during her meeting with the newly appointed Italy’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata.
The Bangladesh Premier further told the ambassador “Italian leather products are good and Italians are very careful about them. We need your cooperation in developing the leather sector.” The Prime Minister welcomed the ambassador and assured her Government’s complete support in helping him perform his duties.
Ihsanul Karim, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary, said that the PM stressed on enhancing the trade relations between Bangladesh and Italy.
Enrico Nunziata too said that he will be committed to increasing the relations between chambers of commerce of both the countries. He added that in its bid to improve cooperation with Bangladesh, Italy has formed a parliamentary group.
The Italian Ambassador also said that his country was keen to set up training centres in Bangladesh for textile and other technologies.
Principal Secretary M. Nojibur Rahman was also present during the meeting.
