
Well-known exporter of Jaipur, Cheer Sagar, which has already won many accolades in various fields, has once again been awarded with the National Productivity & Innovation Award in Textile & Garment Sector for the year 2013-14. The award, organized by the National Productivity Council (NPC) autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, was presented by Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister of MSME on the 3rd of August in Delhi.
Under the Textile and Garment sector in the Micro category, the first prize was won by Hiyar Jagot, Assam; while the second position was held by Sakthi Coco Products, Coimbatore; and third prize was taken away by Meta Classic Fibres, Kerala. In the Small Scale category, Ramesh Textiles India, Indore and MNR Exports, Kolkata were the other winners.
This year 33 institutions from 6 MSME sectors received awards in different categories based on their performance in productivity enhancement and innovation. Happy with the award, Ravi Poddar, Partner of the company credited this success to the efforts of his entire team. Anup K. Pujari, Secretary MSME, Amitabh Kant, Secretary DIPP and Harbhajan Singh, DG NPC were also present at the award ceremony.
Exporting women’s fashion wear in both woven and knits, Cheer Sagar has clients in Japan, Europe, South America and few other countries. Growing under the constructive direction of Ravi and Sujata Poddar, the 16 years old company is BSCI, WRAP Gold Certified, ISO 9001:2008 certified and it has 3 units where almost 500 people are working. A very people-oriented company, Cheer Sagar also organizes medical health checkups for its workers and offers personal accident insurance to them. With an investment of almost Rs. 50 lakh in the current fiscal, the company has plans to expand its value addition department with embroidery and specialized machines. Currently doing business worth Rs. 50 crore per year, the company is expecting 15 per cent growth this year.
