Following request by the e-commerce entity Evaly, to allow it six months’ time to respond in detail to a show-cause notice issued to it earlier, relevant Government bodies and Commerce Ministry officials will, reportedly, meet on 11 August, to decide on the same.
Media reports maintained this citing Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh in this regard.
Earlier on 19 July, the Commerce Ministry sent a show-cause notice to Evaly, asking it to explain by 1 August how it would settle its current liabilities to customers and merchants even as Evaly replied to the same on 1 August seeking six months to respond in detail.
Meanwhile, the Commerce Ministry has, reportedly, formed a body comprising representatives of the central bank (Bangladesh Bank), the Home Affairs Ministry, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, and some other relevant Government bodies to decide on Evaly’s plea.
We are meeting to decide what should be done regarding Evaly, reportedly, maintained Tapan Kanti Ghosh while speaking to the media.
