Swedish fashion brand H&M has given a reason for the people of Kolkata (India) to cheer about other just before the arrival of the festive season. The city is all set to house the first outlet of Swedish fashion brand H&M.
The retailer will unveil its maiden store in Kolkata at Woodburn Central Mall on September 23.
“We are delighted to open our first store in Kolkata just in time for the festivities. We look forward to exceeding customer expectations with our varied range of inspiring fashion that lets them explore their personal style,” reportedly said Janne Einola, Country Manager, H&M India.
Spread over 18,000+ square feet area and extending over two floors, the new H&M store will feature a wide range of products offered by the brand.
H&M has emerged as one of the major apparel brands in the country. The brand reported that its India sales reached Rs. 435 crores in the six months ended May 2017. It may open more stores in the eastern part of the country as it sees great business prospects in the region.
Apart from H&M, the US fashion brand GAP and Spanish apparel retailer Zara are also looking for space to expand in the city.
Besides a store in Kolkata, H&M will foray into other Indian cities like Coimbatore, Indore and Amritsar. The fashion retailer has already announced its plans to open a total of nine stores in India during the autumn season. Currently, the brand runs 17 stores across the country.
