In what is seen as a move that would give some respite to the retailers, stores and the malls operating in Bangladesh, the Government has allowed these entities to remain open for 8 hours from 9 to 13 April, albeit after maintaining the health safety guidelines.
According to reports, The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this direction on 8 April (Thursday), signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Rezaul Islam, which, reportedly, maintained that all shops and malls will be allowed to operate from 9am to 5pm from Friday till Tuesday with strictly maintaining hygiene rules.
It may be mentioned here that Bangladesh has imposed a 7-day countrywide lockdown recently to stem the spread of the dreaded coronavirus which is spreading its deadly tentacles once again in the country even as the Commerce Ministry had recently allowed e-commerce entities to deliver products in capital Dhaka and in other parts of Bangladesh between 6:00 am and 12:00 am.
