
In the April–June quarter of this year, Bata Shoe Company Bangladesh announced that its net profit fell 38 per cent to Taka 18.78 crore due to a fall in sales value caused by low demand brought on by rising inflation.
The shoe manufacturer reported its second-quarter sales to the Dhaka Stock Exchange, where it decreased by 19 per cent to Taka 261 crore from the same period the previous year.
By the conclusion of the first half of this year, its total sales were Taka 542 crore, 4 per cent less than the year before, and its net profit was Taka 37 crore, 15 per cent less than the previous year. On Wednesday, it was trading for Taka 948, 0.50 per cent more than it had on Tuesday.
