The Commerce Ministry has recently asked the e-commerce platform Evaly, which was mired in controversy owing to alleged malpractices, to share details of payments stuck-up in gateways as well as its list of aggrieved clients and merchants.
According to media reports which cited Deputy Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Mohammad Syed Ali, this has been done by the concerned Ministry in order to facilitate refunds even as it sent a letter to Evaly Chairperson Shamima Nasrin recently, in which the company’s management was asked to provide a response by 11th December.
As the Ministry does not have a complete list of the affected customers, it needs to know how much money is stuck up in the payment gateways so that repayment of money owed to the Evaly customers can be started.
