Run by a consortium formed by Polish research institutes and universities cooperating on the R&D works, Polish researchers are working on the Nanomitex project which aims to introduce and commercialise nano- and micro-textile materials for the production of innovative textiles. The textiles will be able to regulate temperature in varied ranges, eliminate pollution, or protect against fire, electromagnetic and electrostatic fields, and UV radiation. These thermoactive textiles can cumulate excessive hear and emit it in case of deficit, along with providing protection against electromagnetic and electrostatic fields, as well as fire and UV radiation. The photocatalytic characteristic allows self-cleaning and accelerating decomposition of organic pollutants capacities.
It will be useful in manufacturing of protective clothing and uniforms for emergency services, biohazard response kits, military, and firefighters.
