NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute is planning to develop an appliance for dyeing ‘cotton fabrics’ without using water. These technological novelties were strategized as part of the collaborative projects of NIFT-TEA Institute and Synthetic and Arts Silk Mills Research (SASMIRA).
“Advanced appliance for dyeing cotton fabrics would be similar to machines earlier developed for dyeing polyesters which uses liquefied carbon dioxide instead of water”, states R. R. Shrinivasan, Chairman, Academic Committee, NIFT-TEA Institute adding, “Our plan is to reduce the duration of effluent coming out through the pre-treatment stage from 72 hours to 12 hours by developing new technologies using peculiar microbes.”
