Apparel Resources is proud to announce the latest addition to its already impressive e-book series of industry-focused publications for industry professionals and students.
The book titled Making Apparel Manufacturing Lean is an in-depth rendering of case studies and practical ideas on Lean and its implementation journey, written by lean expert Anand Deshpande. This is the 15th book introduced by Apparel Resources in the last one year covering various aspects of the fashion supply chain, with special focus on manufacturing.
As Lean Implementation on the apparel manufacturing shop floor becomes more important and relevant than ever today, the recently released book presents an in-depth look at transforming the apparel shop floor by implementing Lean through waste elimination.
The e-book version is available on Google Play E-books and highlights that Lean Implementation not only requires a basic understanding of the Toyota Production System and its various elements, but also a systematic transformation framework to eliminate waste in order to stay cost-competitive in the face of increased globalisation, cost pressures and regulations.
The credibility of the book comes from the very fact that it has been authored by Anand Deshpande, an expert in the subject and a regular contributor to Apparel Resources. Anand is a Professional Engineer, Lean Consultant, Trainer and Educator with three decades of experience in manufacturing and consulting across four continents. Anand developed his Lean practitioner skills on the shop floor of Ford Motor Company in the United Kingdom and Germany. As a consultant, he has worked with Apparels, Automotive, Retail, Die Casting, Forgings, Glass Manufacturing, Industrial Pump and Valve Manufacturing and Financial Services.
This book has been strategically structured to first acquaint the readers with the Toyota Production System framework and its elements. In the successive chapters, those elements are explained along with practical tools and techniques to tie in the theory of LEAN with its practice and how best it can be implemented in the apparel manufacturing industry.
The LEAN Transformation Framework provides a very practical step-by-step guideline to start on your LEAN journey and the last chapter offers practical tips on sustaining the LEAN culture.
“I hope that this book inspires you to embark on the LEAN journey and/or continue it with renewed momentum and enthusiasm. This is the only way to stay competitive and LEAN,” says Deepak Mohindra, Editor-in-Chief, Apparel Resources.
