In a move that is seen to give some respite to the consumers, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission or BERC has recently turned down a proposal from the country’s Power Development Board (PDB) to increase bulk electricity tariff.
This is as per media reports, which added the BERC, cited ambiguous data presented in its proposition.
Emphasising that any decision taken on the ambiguous data presented by the PDB would have been unrealistic, Chairman of the regulatory body, Abdul Jalil reportedly said, “The bulk electricity tariff will remain unchanged,” adding, “The unrealistic decision would have created chaos.”
Given the BERC move, the existing electricity price fixed on 27th February, 2020 will sustain, further reportedly added Abdul Jalil.
