
Despite 3 per cent growth in revenue in October, Bangladesh apparel sector did not meet the target.
So claimed media reports while adding most apparel exporters were pleasantly surprised by the growth in revenue even as most factories have reportedly been running by at least 30 per cent less capacity compared to the same month of last year while BGMEA President Faruque Hassan has recently underlined during a recent press conference that garment exports may decrease by 20 per cent in October while based on data from the Customs, the BGMEA also said garment exports fell by 19 per cent till 20th October compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
“Though there was a prediction that apparel exports may slow down in October, such a positive growth is welcome,” reportedly maintained in the meanwhile BGMEA Director Mohiuddin Rubel speaking to the media but not before reportedly adding he doesn’t see positive outlook of orders and growth in coming months as the global fashion retail market worldwide is struggling, and buyers are following cautious steps to manage new orders and inventory.
