
The second High Level Economic Consultation (HLEC) between United States and Bangladesh was held recently at the US Department of State in Washington DC.
At the said meeting, Salman F. Rahman, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Private Industry and Investment who co-chaired the day-long meeting with Jose W. Fernandez, US State Department Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, reportedly, urged the US Government for preferential market access of Bangladeshi products to the US market.
Salman F. Rahman also called for enhanced US investment in manufacturing, technology transfer and International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) funding for infrastructural development.
As per reports, the Bangladesh delegation included State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam; Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister; Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin; Begum Shamsun Nahar; Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam and other senior Government officials.
