
Production in the textile and spinning mills in the major industrial hubs of Ashulia, Shreepur, Dhaka, Gazipur, Savar, Narayanganj, Narsingdi and Bhaluka in Bangladesh has taken a hit following gas crisis owing to overhauling at the Bibiyana gas field.
Media reports maintained this adding usually, textile and spinning mills require substantial amount of gas and following the latest gas crisis, garment manufacturers are also apprehensive the same would hit their production too.
“…we are getting ready to assess the losses in the factories over the last few days,” reportedly, underlined Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Monsoor Ahmed even as he, reportedly, added BTMA members have been complaining of losses following production getting hit on account of acute shortage of gas.
The BTMA Chief Executive Officer further, reportedly, added on average, production in factories which used to produce 30 tonnes of yarn daily has come down to only 5 tonnes/day now.
