
The ‘WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards’ in Sustainable Growth/Circular Economy Award category went to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for using ‘Biometric Identity and Worker Information Management System’.
According to media reports, Vice Chairman of WITSA Asia Pacific, Md. Shahid-Ul-Munir, during the 25th WCIT (World Congress on Information Technology) held recently, handed over this prestigious award to the BGMEA.
CEO of Systech Digital Limited M. Rashidul Hasan and BGMEA Director Rajiv Chowdhury, reportedly, received the award on behalf of the garment makers’ body.
The ‘Biometric Identity and Worker Information Management System (Worker Database)’ software was implemented throughout Bangladesh in 2013, thanks to BGMEA’s initiative, even as this software is, reportedly, currently being used by about 2,500 factories associated with the garment makers’ body (BGMEA).
