
Even as activities resumed at the Chittagong Port recently following postponement of the ongoing transport strike in Bangladesh, it is now being said it would take at least a week before things gets back to normal completely at the port.
Speaking to the media, Secretary of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Md. Omar Faruk, reportedly, underlined this even as he maintained, “…we can say that the overall port activities are rather normal,” while adding it will take at least a week to gain complete normalcy.
…by next week, the container pressure will be totally under control, reportedly, claimed the CPA Secretary.
Meanwhile, industry insiders have, reportedly, underlined that due to the recent strike, it might be difficult to achieve the target of US $ 4 billion export in November.
Speaking to media, BGMEA First Vice-President Syed Nazrul Islam, reportedly, said the strike has put BGMEA’s target to export goods worth US $ 4 billion in November at risk.
