A well-known business advocacy group in South Korea, the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) is expanding its efforts in the manufacturing and technology domains by forming two new committees: the Service Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Committee and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Committee.
The creation of these committees, according to a statement from FKI, is intended to improve member company participation in policy making by focussing efforts on their needs. The AI Innovation Committee will address important issues like the advancement of AI technology, encouraging AI integration into different manufacturing processes, addressing the digital divide between social groups and generations, and creating a new digital landscape in the AI-centric era.
In the meanwhile, the Service Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Committee will push for regulatory changes in high-potential regions, support underdeveloped areas within these industries, and encourage cooperation between the manufacturing and service sectors. Through these committees, FKI hopes to identify certain policy issues and promote their inclusion in official policies.
The Economic Policy Committee, the Ethics Committee, the Inter-Korean Economic Exchange Committee, and the K-ESG Alliance are the four committees that FKI now runs. Chairman Ryu Jin underlined that the organisation is committed to encouraging innovation and reviving the South Korean economy in light of the difficult economic environment.
Furthermore, as part of its commitment to inclusive and varied representation, FKI is growing its leadership team. The number of chairpersons has increased from 12 to 15 during a recent dinner meeting when Kim Nam-goo from Korea Investment Holdings Co., Kim Jung-soo from Samyang Roundsquare Co., and Rae Eun Sung from Youngone Holdings Co. were hired.
