British luxury fashion house Burberry has announced the departure of its President and Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey.
The ace designer will leave his current position on 31 March 2018. However, he will continue its association with the company until the end of 2018 for the smooth transition.
“I enjoyed my stint with Burberry and feel privileged. An extraordinary group of people made me learn various things over the past 17 years. I’m excited to pursue new creative projects but remain fully committed to the future success of the magnificent brand,” said Bailey.
Bailey became the President and COO of Burberry in May 2014.
The 46-year-old designer has been the driving force behind the company’s success. Started just as an outerwear business, Burberry has now established itself as one of the world’s largest and most admired luxury brands.
“Christopher has been instrumental in the company’s strong performance during his tenure. Under his leadership, Burberry underwent an incredible transformation,” said Marco Gobbetti, Chief Executive Officer, Burberry.
It will be interesting to see who will replace Bailey at Burberry. According to grapevines, the brand may hire a talented emerging designer other than a renowned name.
Stay tuned for the latest updates. Inputs will be shared as and when received.
