Six Italian textile firms, Miroglio, Berbrand, Attilio Imperiali, Italdenim, Besani and Zip have pledged to eliminate all the hazardous chemicals from their supply chains by the end of year 2020. The commitments from the Italian companies marked the “most ambitious Detox commitments yet”. Greenpeace stated that all the companies had already phased out eight of the eleven priority groups of hazardous substances identified by the Detox campaign, and that each would keep people updated on their detox progress via their websites making it easier for them to be held accountable for their actions. Greenpeace has in the past made an effort to publicly stress the luxury fashion sector to make detox vows. However, while brands such as Burberry and Valentino have made their own detox commitments, others such as Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana have shown no sign of commitment.
